Sentence in the Murder of David Latchana
A judge ruled that Jason Hay should spend 7 years in prison for his role in the death of David Latchana. At 21 year old, Hay already had a criminal record with 50 convictions, and at the time of the killing he was on probation for the fifth time. Demar Duntin actually did the shooting and is serving a life sentence with the possibility of parole in 15 years.
As the judge read the sentence to him Hay swore violently at the judge after he imposed the sentence, noting,"I'll be home in two years." The judge decided not to give him the usual credit of two months for every month already served in jail. Hay must serve another five years and three months behind bars, with no parole for at least 2 1/2 years.
