Randal Dooley Appeal Denied

On Tuesday, the Ontario Court of Appeal dismissed the couple's argument that they should be granted a new trial because the judge made legal errors which resulted in jury verdicts based on emotion, not evidence. This was one of the worst cases of child abuse in Canada, and these two had the nerve to ask for a retrial. I’m sorry but for what they did to this young boy, they deserve to rot in jail.

Randal had wasted to just 41 pounds and had 13 fractured ribs, a lacerated liver, four brain injuries, and head-to-toe bruises when he died in 1998. Randal was born in Jamaica and came to Canada to live with his father and stepmother in November 1997, 11 months before his death.

Guilty Plea in Jane Creba Shooting

27-year old Jeremiah Valentine plead guilty in the murder of Jane Creba and received an automatic life sentence with the chance of parole in 12 years.

The guilty plea came as surprise to many and the Toronto star today aired video of Valentine being a tipster in the murder of Jane Creba. See video here.

The police gave Valentine the chance to request a lawyer and he was not forced to discuss the 2005 Boxing Day shooting of Creba however during the video Valentine doesn’t say too much. Police state Jeremiah Valentine gave police an insider's view of gang life after he was arrested on cocaine charges earlier. Valentine admitted firing a .357 revolver after two groups of young men turned their guns on each other. Creba was killed in the crossfire. Valentine told detectives he was fed up with the gangster life. He said he was tired of watching friends kill friends. Despite past refusals to break the "code of the street" against snitching, he was willing to talk about the secret world of the Driftwood Crips and his own related crew, the Killer Crips, in the Jane St. and Finch Ave. W. area.

According to a court document summarizing the interview, he pointed fingers and named names, detailing the gang hierarchy. He also offered information about two unsolved homicides.

Jury selection in the trial of the last two suspects begins Jan. 25.

Busy Weekend for Thugs

A few crimes took place this weekend.

A shooting at Trethewey Dr. Saturday evening left a 41 year old man with a bullet in his shoulder. He was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. A security-camera in the apartment building caught images of the three suspects. The first suspect is described as male, black, six-foot in height, medium build, wearing a black shirt; the second as male, black, five-foot-ten, heavy build, wearing jeans; and the third as male, black, wearing a white mask.

In the Malvern area, on Friday two males and two females, all 16 years of age, were hit from behind by five male suspects. When the victims refused the demand for cash made by one of the suspects, a struggle ensued, during which one of the victims was stabbed in the stomach, police say. The injuries sustained were minor. Another robbery took place on Mclevin where a woman was robbed. Her purse containing her ID and jewelery were taken. In both cases, victims describe the five suspects as male, black, all between 18 to 19 years in age, and five-foot-five to five-foot-seven in height.

In the Morningside/Finch area on Saturday night a man was stabbed and sent to the hospital with non-threatening injuries.

Shooting on TTC Bus

A man was shot as he sat on a TTC bus today. The incident occured around 9:15pm in the Sheppard and Arleta area. Early reports indicate that a van pulled up beside a TTC vehicle. That’s when the shooter allegedly got out, opened fire, hopped back in, and took off.

The victim, a man in his 20s, was rushed to hospital with a bullet in his shoulder. His injuries are serious, but not life-threatening. Police say he was an innocent bystander and not targeted in the attack.
No description of the suspect is available as of yet.

Robbery and Extortion Gone Wrong

I forgot to post this story last week on these 5 idiots that ALLEGEDLY decided to kidnap and try to extort money from 3 individuals.

From Right to Left, Mark Anthony Barreiras, 29, Shawn Jermaine Tyrell, 24, Bryan Robson Taylor, 23, Patrick Anthony Anderson, 22, and a young female offender, all of no fixed address, are wanted in connection with the kidnapping of three men in two separate incidences on Wednesday, Nov. 11. The young offender cannot be named due to her age but it’s a young white female.

In the first kidnapping, a lone male victim was kidnapped at gunpoint in the Martin Grove Road/Rexdale Boulevard area at an unspecified time, but was able to escape.
In the second kidnapping, two more men were kidnapped at gunpoint from the same area - Martin Grove Road/Rexdale Boulevard. While one of those victims was able to jump from the kidnappers' vehicle in the Hwy. 401/Mavis Road area in Mississauga, the second was held overnight at an apartment in Toronto but let go after he promised he would bring money and drugs.

2 other people have been arrested in this case Dustin Brandejs, 22 and Amrinder Chhokar, 26. Today Bryan Thompson (Bottom Left) turned himself in.

TTC Shooting Trial

The young man's fate was decided yesterday by a jury of 12 and he was found NOT Guilty of attempted murder however he was found guilty of aggravated assault using a firearm. Because it was difficult to prove he intended to shoot the bus drive he was found not guilty on the bigger charge.

He shot the bus driver in the face as he supposedly tried to assist his friend from getting beaten down by a gang of people. Malcolm Chalmers, 23 has pleaded not guilty to attempted murder and use of a firearm.

I can’t see this boy coming out innocent, his own girlfriend testified that he did admit to her about the shooting along with seeing the weapon. She never mentioned the confession until Toronto Police interrogated her for more than four hours on Jan. 21, 2008, two days after she had split up with Chalmers, her boyfriend of four years.

The shooting left the bus driver legally blind.

A jury now deciding whether Malcolm Chalmers blinded a TTC bus driver never heard that he was convicted as an accomplice in the shooting of another man who insulted his pal.
The gun also has a past. This is the same gun that was used to kill Kempton Howard and wound three others in Toronto. This boy is a clearly a modern day menace to society.

Charges Dropped in Jane Creba Trial

This past Monday, the Crown announced it would call no more evidence in the manslaughter case against Smith, 24, Vincent Davis, 29, Andre Thompson, 26, and his brother, Shaun Thompson, 24 so charges against all four individuals for the slaying of Jane Creba has been dropped.

Creba was shot as she walked among Boxing Day shoppers on Yonge St., two blocks north of the Eaton Centre. The 15-year-old girl was killed by a single .357-calibre bullet as a gun battle broke out between a man exiting the Foot Locker clothing store and at least two other shooters on the sidewalk. Six other people were injured. All but Shaun Thompson, who got bail after a year, have been in custody since they were charged. The three remain locked up on other matters. The four accused were standing outside the Foot Locker when the shooting broke out but none was alleged to have carried a gun.

The trial continues against three other adult accused: Louis Raphael Woodcock, 22, Tyshaun Barnett, 22, and Jeremiah Valentine, 27. They are all charged with second-degree murder in Creba's death and either attempted murder or aggravated assault in the wounding of six other people.

This girl’s death was a tragedy but I’m more appalled at the police just arresting whoever they can to close this case. I don’t think we’ll ever know who was the actual shooter of Jane Creba so will her family ever have full closure? I think not. Our tax dollars at work.

Homicide #54-Alton Reid

This past Sunday a shooting took place around 3am as patrons attended a birthday party at a banquet hall in the Midland and Ellesmere area. Homicide #53-Shane Kelter

He lived the fast life and it eventually caught up to him. Shane Kelter, 32 who actually lives in Vancouver but I’m assuming came to Toronto on business was killed in the downtown district this past Sunday as he hopped out of a limo and arrived at a condo on Bay St. Autopsy results show he died of multiple gun shot wounds to the chest. Witnesses could only give vague description of the shooter: a black male in dark clothing. Police have received no cooperation from the people who were out with Kelter.

Kelter was known to Vancouver police and had faced "the full spectrum" of charges. Kelter was one of six Canadians from Vancouver and Toronto indicted in the U.S. by the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force. Kelter was accused of overseeing drug smuggling between the U.S. and Canada. He and 17 others are alleged to have moved ecstasy, cocaine and methamphetamine along the West Coast. A warrant was issued for his arrest in California, but extradition talks were still ongoing between American and Canadian authorities, said a spokesperson from the U.S. Attorney's Office.

Randal Dooley Appeal.. The Nerve

In 2002 Tony and Marcia Dooley were found guilty of second degree murder and sentenced to life in prison and they are now seeking a new trial.

I’ll never forget the case of 7 year old Randal Dooley who was tormented by his father and step mother after arriving from Jamaica to live with them. The details of what these pigs did to him could only bring tears to the eyes of any human being. Along with a tapestry of scars and bruises, a post-mortem on Randal's emaciated, 40-pound body discovered 13 broken ribs, a lacerated liver and a tooth in his stomach.

There is purportedly "fresh evidence" to suggest that the original cause of death finding may have been wrong. the fresh evidence application filed jointly with Marie Henein, representing Marcia Dooley, a different version of events and potential cause of death is promoted by a neuropathologist who states he could find no evidence to prove that subdural hematoma had been fatal, the cause of death entered at trial a "bunch of speculations."

I hope that Tony and Marcia Dooley never see the day of light. I can only hope and pray that this new information does not help them to see the light of day. I will sign any petition I have to.

Homicide #41-Donald Jackson

UPDATE #2 - The other suspect in the murder case, 26 year old Merhawi Tekle has turned himself in and has charged with first degree murder. Police initially identified the dead man as 61-year-old Benson Smith, but after further investigation, his identity was confirmed as 71-year-old Donald Constantine Jackson.

UPDATE: The 14 year old girl has turned herself in and has been charged with first-degree murder. Police are still looking for 26 year old Merhawi Tekle.

61 year old Benton Smith was beaten to death and left to die last week Tuesday. This past Friday life support had to be pulled making this homicide #41 in the GTA. The two individuals below are wanted for questioning in his murder.

The victim was supposedly accused by a female of stealing something which he denied. She eventually got two males who came and beat the man so severely. The man was beaten to death in the Pine Hills Cemetery. The man, who police describe as a "transient" and who had been living in shelters, denied the woman's accusations and went to the cemetery.

The woman is described as black with a light complexion, 19 to 21-years-old, between 5-foot-4 and five-foot-6 with black, curly hair in a ponytail. The man is described as black with a light complexion, 20 to 25-years-old, 5-foot-6 to 5-foot-8 and 150 pounds with long, dark hair in a ponytail. He may be driving a newer model white SUV.

What is the world coming to that you need to beat a 61 year helpless man to death? Just SAD.

The young man was shot twice in the chest and was already dead when EMS arrived. Sparroways has been known in the past for its violent history but the neighbourhood did a complete 360 in pretty much the last 10-15 years. Witnesses told police they saw a lone gunman flee the low-rise building's lobby, heading south on a walkway towards Finch.

Homicide #39 - Kamal Hercules

The life of Kamal Hercules was celebrated yesterday by friends and his family tried to come to grips with the fact that he is gone. Kamal was shot to death this past weekend on Saturday and police now state it may have just been a random act of violence.

Kamal was said to be a good man, great dancer and excellent basketball player. He was well liked by people and was not involved in any type of gang activity. Police are now combing through surveillance videos to see if they can find what happened up until Kamal was shot to death.
This marks the 39th murder of 2009.

Owen Smith (pictured) was released from jail in February 2009 in relation to the brazen murder of Abdikarim Abdikarim in Jungle last year. He was released from jail as witnesses feared testifying against him and he walked free out of the Milton prison yelling "Freedom's a Must".

Well the fool, who I would have hoped would change his life around decided to go rob a store down in Yorkville back in July. Putting guns to the heads of the store clerks and terrorizing them. He tried to get the clerks to open the safe to which they could not access, once the owner arrived he ran out of the store.

Owen Smith was finally arrested on Aug. 21 in Lindylou Park at the northwest corner of Weston Rd. and Lanyard Rd.

This menace to society deserves to stay in jail.

New Trial Ordered in Simeon Peter Murder Trial

Simeon Peter (pictured) was gunned down in 2004 and the man currently on trial for his murder will face a new trial. Ontario's highest court quashed the jury verdict due to a teardrop tattoo that could have affected the outcome. Warren Abbey will stand trial once again for first degree murder charges in the death of Peter.

The panel agreed with the Crown's argument that the trial judge should not have excluded evidence – collected from five witnesses – relating to its (teardrop tattoo) potential meaning. The killing happened during a time when two Toronto street gangs, the Malvern Crew and the Galloway Boys, were fighting a bloody turf war.

Peter died on Jan. 8, 2004 after being shot three times while walking with his girlfriend in the Malvern district of Scarborough, in Toronto's east end. The trial judge excluded all proposed testimony relating to the tattoo because he said it was too prejudicial.

Sentence in the Murder of David Latchana

A judge ruled that Jason Hay should spend 7 years in prison for his role in the death of David Latchana. At 21 year old, Hay already had a criminal record with 50 convictions, and at the time of the killing he was on probation for the fifth time. Demar Duntin actually did the shooting and is serving a life sentence with the possibility of parole in 15 years.

As the judge read the sentence to him Hay swore violently at the judge after he imposed the sentence, noting,"I'll be home in two years." The judge decided not to give him the usual credit of two months for every month already served in jail. Hay must serve another five years and three months behind bars, with no parole for at least 2 1/2 years.

Here's a previous link to this case, check out the comments left. Really serious stuff being said.

5 Shootings in the GTA Last Night, 1 Fatal

The two shootings last night have now turned into 5. One man has died making it the 34th homicide for 2009.

I reported earlier how two teenagers around 6:45pm were shot in the Teesdale area (picture) located in the East York region. A shootout between two groups of teens occurred causing a 17 year to be shot in the face and a 16 year old shot twice in his stomach.
About two hours earlier before that, a teenage girl was shot in the leg on Trethewey Dr.
Around 9pm, a 26 year old man took a shot to the face around Kipling and Finch. He is expected to be okay as when paramedics arrived he was conscious and breathing.

Last night around 10:30 police responded to a man suffering from gunshot wounds. Police are now saying it looks like playing with a firearm caused this man's death. A gun may have accidentally discharged, hitting him in the chest. The suspect and the victims girlfriend drove him to the hospital. Clearly a stupid act is what caused this man to lose his life.

Homicide #33 - Nerio Valdez

Nerio Valdez, 17 years of age lay in a hydro field for several days before his body was discovered. An anonymous tipster is what led police to the body located in North Etobicoke. His lifeless body was found in bushes in the field that runs between a residential and industrial area near Martin Grove Rd. and Steeles Ave. W. at around 5 p.m. on Sunday.

Residents on Cabernet Circle recalled hearing four gunshots in the area Thursday evening. One woman told police she saw car headlights coming from the industrial area. Police searched the area Saturday evening after an anonymous 911 caller reported police might find something in the area. "The description of the caller was very vague, and indicated that the incident was in a wooded area," Police said. He said officers searched the hydro field for close to two hours until it was too dark and found nothing at that time.

Police have video evidence showing Nerio getting into an argument with several men before he was shot, police are currently combing the areas for additional information into the death of this young man. I just wonder why his family didn't realize he was missing. The boy is only 17 and if I had a 17 year old that hasn't been home in 2 days, I would wonder where he is.
